what recommended way persist state in sharepoint 2013 application?

i need implement shopping cart functionality in sp.

also, great if can point me open source implementation of shopping cart in sp.

i recommend persisting data in database. need store sort of identifier on client (i used cookie web order id along hashed & salted value of order id). once have bit figured out relatively straight forward read/write database persist order info.

also going route lets follow customer should logged in or identifiable (think of way best buy emails if leave in cart , never order it, marketing folks love that).

just food though, hth!
