html - Linking to arbitrary content on a webpage without anchor tags -


i'm looking way link specific range of words, image or other arbitrary content on web-page. 1 alternative introduce tons of anchors on page, can live solution requires javascript. preferable 1 highlights target content.

it great have kind of protection (in form of alert warning) if content of page has been modified, , link no longer valid.

does know of library handles this, or have advice on at? assume there no w3c standard enables url scheme arbitrary direct linking without introducing anchors (name tags)?
