dns - Shared SSL certificate as subdomain -

my webhosting company offer free shared ssl certificates take advantage off here's issue:

the ssl url looks https://web125.secure-secure.co.uk/myurl.com

i'm worried when customers make purchase , see url isnt myurl.com might cautious or hesitant continue transaction.

so possible map ssl domain https://secure.myurl.com

if not, there alternatives (apart buying own certificate)

no not possible. alternative pay certificate unless don't mind users getting warnings in browser.

the reason free because hosting company have paid wildcard certificate certification authority (ca) i.e. *.secure-secure.co.uk in can have sub-domain. e.g. mycompany.secure-secure.co.uk.

if want certificate own domain e.g. mycompany.co.uk or want wildcard certificate stuff services.mycompany.co.uk or extranet.mycompany.co.uk need buy one, wildcard certificate more expensive.

a certificate can used validate particular url paying trusted source e.g. certification authority such verisign or digicert vouch identity users can know when hit https://www.mycompany.co.uk traffic encrypted , owner of mycompany.co.uk can decrypt it.

you're unlikely find free source valid ssl certificates because certification authorities have had pay have own identity verified , had pay have own certificates built operating systems create chain of trust. when don't have chain of trust or when certificate url does't match url visiting, when big scary warning in browser.
