linux - Progress of a command running in unix -


i have long command running on large file. involves sort, uniq, grep , awk commands in single command pipes results of 1 command another.

once issue command execution, command prompt doesn't return until command has executed.

is there way know progress of command in terms of how of execution has completed or similar gives idea of how of particular command inside main command has completed?

without knowing you're doing can't whether or not work you, have @ pv. might fit bill.
