rhel - Kernel source rpm CentOS 6.3 -
i have centos 6.3 installed.
cat /etc/redhat-release
centos release 6.3 (final)
uname -mrs
linux 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64 x86_64
i following steps outlined in following links fetch , build kernel (to enable features): http://wiki.centos.org/howtos/i_need_the_kernel_source http://wiki.centos.org/howtos/custom_kernel
in centos 6.3 vault (http://vault.centos.org/6.3/updates/source/spackages/), following kernel source rpms listed:
kernel-2.6.32-279.1.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.5.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.5.2.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.9.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.11.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.src.rpm kernel-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.src.rpm
i trying find out, of above source rpm corresponds kernel version 2.6.32-279.el6 (output of "uname -r" not contain additional 2 digits of version number in list above). appreciated.
thank you, ahmed.
after wrecking head , tons of googling (which did not shed light), figured out answer question. state answer using centos 6.3 example, same logic applies centos 6.4. if 1 has fresh install of centos 6.3, kernel source file @ following site:
http://vault.centos.org/6.3/os/source/spackages/
the above site contains 1 kernel source rpm (for kernel version number not contain 2 additional digits in version number). not confusion there.
however, if 1 has applied patch stock 6.3 release, depending on patch level, kernel version extended (with 2 digits) corresponding kernel source available @ following site:
http://vault.centos.org/6.3/updates/source/spackages/
--ahmed.
