Why does Imagemagick produce strange results when converting to WEBP format? -


i experimenting jpeg2000 , webp through imagemagick. both giving me better compression levels had gotten jpeg in gimp, webp doing better jpeg2000. when changed input image jpeg png, webp started creating output files larger input. jpeg2000 showed no significant change. tried add options -format webp , -define webp:lossless=fase, didn't help.

also, file manager , identify both insist resulting file png , not webp. later checked , found files converted jpeg considered jpegs, though smaller fine-tuned jpeg2000s.

all images had same quality level of 85. imagemagick supposedly supports webp natively, , have libwebp installed. jpeg2000 being handled libjasper.

what going on?
