Centralizing libraries in julia -

i've long thought learing julia - language secretly hope become new standard scientific computing - , when packaged , included in standard ubuntu repositories, figured time. found this tutorial , started hacking...

in linked chapter, 1 urged download library called ols.jl github repository, place in local directory , start using it. feel there must better way of doing this.

for example, logical have "default"-directory in julia can library files. folder reside under home directory, or (perhaps better) somewhere under e.g. /usr/share/lib on ubuntu system.

also, downloading libraries directly seems me should able avoid. isn't possible find libraries these in sort of packaging system (be via ubuntu's apt-get or else)?

i realize many of these questions , concerns may because julia young language, of these features missing because of this, , there plans (or @ least wishes) go in direction in future. however, nice know if i'm missing obvious =)

that tutorial on forio ancient. there's newer, better package system of version 0.1 of julia. see documentation here: http://docs.julialang.org/en/release-0.1/manual/packages/
