eclipse - TOMCAT - HTTP Status 404 -


this question has answer here:

i set server in eclipse , when run console prints:

but then, if browse http://localhost:8080 get:

http status 404 - / --------------------------------------------------------------------- type status report message / description requested resource not available. 

while should see tomcat welcome page.

if run tomcat outside of eclipse can reach welcome page.

  1. click on window > show view > server or right click on server in "servers" view, select "properties".
  2. in "general" panel, click on "switch location" button.
  3. the "location: [workspace metadata]" should replace else.
  4. open overview screen server double clicking it.
  5. in server locations tab , select "use tomcat location".
  6. save configurations , restart server.

you may want follow steps above before starting server. because server location section goes grayed-unreachable.
