layered navigation - How to get Magento attribute option id -


i customizing mobile theme magento store. need implement search functionality in front page of mobile theme. layered navigation not there in default iphone mobile theme. had put piece of code displaying attributes in select box , created search button there. successful in publishing end attributes there in select box can't able make search box functionality that. when observing magento's layered navigation, found layered navigation search working creating dynamic url selected attribute value id. decided create search layered navigation does. creating dynamic url seems need piece of code fetching selected attribute option id. tried many codes getting option id, not successful. 1 please gave me hand.

try using advanced search functionality instead. think easier. suggestion.
